Former Team Sloggi pilot John Petrehn of the USA has been crowned the new 2010 hot air balloon world champion.
The week long championships took place in Debrecen, Hungary with 120 competitors from countries all over the world. The British team was comprised of six pilots including Exclusive Ballooning pilots Mike Howard, Rick Vale, Richard Parry and Andrew Holly and former Exclusive Ballooning pilot Lindsay Muir. The sixth member of the team was twice world champion David Bareford.
David Bareford was the highest place Brit in 9th whilst both David and Andrew Holly also scored task wins.
John teamed up with Andrew Holly for the 2006 Honda World Grand Prix for Team Sloggi which involved a week long championship in Japan, USA and Luxembourg - the team finished in silver position.
Team USA also took second with Nick Donner and fifth place was world number one Uwe Schneider, both of which have competed at the Exclusive Cup so our particluar congratulations to them.
We now hope John will join us in 2011 for the Exclusive Cup - our congratulations again to him and his team.
