Exclusive Cup 2011 - 200 Pictures

Tony Jay has won Exclusive Ballooning's 2011 Exclusive Cup in Newport, Gloucestershire.

A total of 36 balloons flew over two flights competiting for many prizes donated by Lindstrand, Cameron and Kubicek Balloons, Omega Resource and Exclusive Ballooning.

Tony Jay is a worthy winner pulling off a stunning flight on the saturday morning in a skyhopper which was enough to carry him through to overall victory. His drop of 73cm also won him the new Omega Resources Precision Trophy and £100 kindly donated by Omega Resources and James Strickland. As well as the Exclusive Cup itself he won a brand new Flytech 6010 donated by Exclusive Ballooning.

Ian Parsons was second and Jon Collett (who won the prize grab at the first Exclusive Cup in Sudeley) was third and both won fabulous prizes donated by Lindstrand Balloons. The top three also won a support package donated by Exclusive Ballooning covering their membership fees to the BBAC competitions Club and also their entry fees to the Grand Prix events this year.

Cameron Balloons and Kubicek Balloons donated prizes which were awarded to the winners of each task and various small prizes were awarded to many other people including an umbrella awarded to our weather officer Jim Howard!

The long distance award was won by Domonic Bareford whilst the John William Holly memorial Trophy was awarded to Frazer Davey for outstanding improvement in his flying since attending last years' Exclusive Cup with only one hours fliying experience.

New Champion Tony Jay says "Andrew's team organised a really excellent event. I was a bit anxious flying a hopper against ex world champions in racer balloons. As we only had a few tasks I was lucky that a couple of good scores helped me win the event. I'll be back next year - but hopefully in a larger balloon where I can take a navigator to join in with the fun."

The Exclusive Cup team thank all teams who attended and made the event very special and great fun for all and also the huge team effort that makes the event happen smoothly. We look forward to a special fifth birthday next year.....
